The Product Guidelines & Documentation Specialist is responsible for managing the development, maintenance, and accuracy of all product guidelines, matrices, and supporting documentation across all business channels (Retail, Wholesale, Correspondent, JV, and Bank).

 

This role serves as the central point of coordination for investor and internal policy updates, ensuring that all changes are translated into clear, consistent, and accurate company guidelines. The Specialist partners closely with Product Development, Credit, and Operations teams to ensure documentation reflects current product offerings and underwriting requirements.

 

This position is responsible for documentation governance and execution and does not include credit policy decisioning or product design responsibilities.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Own the creation, maintenance, and ongoing updates of all product guidelines, matrices, and supporting documentation across all channels
  • Manage centralized intake of investor and internal guideline updates, including monitoring shared inboxes and announcements
  • Translate investor guidelines and internal policy decisions into standardized, user-friendly company documentation
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of guidelines across all products, channels, and documentation formats
  • Maintain documentation templates, standards, and version control processes
  • Review and audit existing guidelines and matrices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Partner with Product Development and Credit teams to clarify updates and ensure accurate interpretation of policy changes
  • Support new product launches by developing and publishing all required guideline documentation and reference materials
  • Assist with communication and training materials related to guideline updates as needed
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to guideline interpretation and documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, tools, and efficiencies
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 7-10 years experience in mortgage underwriting, credit policy, or product support
  • Strong understanding of agency, non-QM, and investor guideline structures
  • Experience working with product guidelines, matrices, or technical documentation preferred
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to interpret complex guidelines and translate them into clear, concise materials
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with documentation tools a plus

PHYSICAL and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This role operates in an ADA compliant office environment, utilizing typical office equipment and tasks including computer work. The position may involve partial stationary positions and moving throughout the day. Flexibility to work overtime to meet project deadlines is required.

 

 

COMPENSATION:

CMG pays a competitive salary which ranges from $85,000 - $100,000. Factors that affect base salary may include: Underwriter experience and knowledge of Government, Jumbo and Non-QM loans. Overall knowledge, number of years worked in the mortgage industry, types of roles performed, computer skills, experience specific to working with mortgage lenders, and education.
